Grandma Somboon spent 80 long years in chains—first, working in the logging industry, then forced to carry tourists, never allowed the rest or freedom every creature deserves. Her life was a relentless cycle of work, bound by the chains that held her body and spirit captive.

Frail and weary from decades of suffering, Somboon was finally rescued by Save Elephant Foundation and brought to Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary where healing could begin.

Unlike many rescued elephants who take time to adjust to their new surroundings, Somboon knew instantly she was safe. On her very first day, she lay down to sleep—something she hadn’t been able to do in years—her body finally able to rest in peace, as if her heart knew it had found its refuge.

Now, Somboon enjoys the simple joys of life: good food, gentle walks, and soothing mud baths. Surrounded by love and care, she is able to bask in the tranquility she’s always deserved, even in her final years.

After eight long decades of hardship, Grandma Somboon has finally found peace—a peace that eluded her for so long. Her journey reminds us that no matter how long the road to freedom, every soul deserves the chance to rest and heal.
